What is the Change Cycle? - What Makes Heaven to Earth, I Ching Different? 

First, the Change Cycle shows that every hexagram is associated with six other hexagrams.  In this way, the 64 hexagrams interlock and connect for natural relationships.  A hexagram’s six lines provide positive words or warnings.  Depending on the I Ching response, unwrap a hexagram to reveal an outcome and a path forward. 

For example:

In response to a client's question, "What advice [or] guidance do you have for a person who feels life has no purpose or meaning - the feeling of being lost," she received the following change cycle:

Let hexagram texts in the Change Cycle guide your question meditation and your reaction to the situation.  If you predict and prepare for short-term events, then you can take effective action.  If you discover an outcome of a particular decision that is the most rewarding and timely, then you can take informed action.  While hexagram text seems a quick read, a whole reading can provide important tools for new life skills.  Heaven to Earth, I Ching offers techniques to closely examine and integrate back into your situation the ancient wisdom of the 64 hexagrams.

Second, and by necessity, your question frames the I Ching response.   

As you read hexagram text and meditate on its meaning, remember that most events take time to develop.  It may take equally as long to resolve.  The question captures the moment or event, so try to see the interconnected events leading to and from your question.  Some events may be unrealized, but the Change Cycle shows the sequence.  As they unfold, compare real events to hexagram and line text to appreciate the flow. 

Your effort to frame the question and read hexagram text changes your perceptions and capabilities - even if it means you must accept the present circumstances until they pass.  In essence, the question will remind you of why you consulted the I Ching in the first place.  If you get a warning, be wise to follow its advice.   

More importantly for good fortune, take proper action when circumstances are ideal.

No matter the causing event, your situation will change.  The Change Cycle mirrors the sequence pattern that events unfold.  Your question and hexagram will help you pin point when to act, or to not act, as the situations rise to face you.  The challenge is timing your conscious effort given the flow of available events.   

Most people recognize something in hexagram text.  This recognition synchronizes that hexagram to the moment and it signals your current options given present capabilities.  This is a chronological key because it times hexagrams to events.  When the light comes on, take note.

The Change Cycle brings order to the events even though they may span moments, days, months, or even years.  Sharpen your awareness as events march to real time.  Then harmonize yourself to your environment to effectively participate.  When events are unfolding, read hexagram text in Change Cycle order to find timely warnings or act now advice.
