Preface - Introduction Thought of self and others can begin a long journey inward. Indigenous cultures across time and continents developed unique rituals for the statesman and commoner alike to seek insights about marriage, commerce, military, government, and church affairs. Our high-paced world may be quite different today, but these same subjects impact our lives in daily ways. A sudden change to our core values can create turmoil, such as a car accident or "Cupid." For many people this split-second, turbulent change creates a thirst for understanding. This is polarity change. Otherwise, change is a lengthy series of small steps visible when we look back to reflect on a new life. These steps can align like planning an education and career where good fortune is gained by dedicated action over a period of time. Each step occurs in place, in time, and in sequence. This is sequential change. Like the mythical Phoenix, the I Ching, or Book of Change emerged from the ritual fires of ancient China. As one of the oldest books known to mankind, it has guided the personal development of kings, sages, conquerors, merchants, and laborers. The I Ching contains 64 hexagrams. Each hexagram has six lines that offer 3,000 year-old wisdom for our hectic lives. Hexagram text is time-tested advice and guidance. Heaven to Earth, I Ching updates our ancient ability to adapt to and integrate events cut by polarity and sequential change. What is Heaven to Earth, I Ching? Contact: Copyright (c) 2008 James R.
