Chapter Eight: Introduction to Hexagrams - To Close The core of Heaven to Earth, I Ching is the Change Cycle. The hexagram arrangement does not alter trigrams, a hexagram's interpretation, or other important I Ching features. Rather, it modernizes a historic arrangement of the 64 hexagrams. The Change Cycle orders active lines as they form static and secondary hexagrams. These concepts are new ideas for an ancient masterpiece. Should it though? Look to the Correlation Sheet for demonstrated unity between the King Wen and Change Cycle arrangements using the Wilhelm-Baynes edition references. Heaven to Earth, I Ching takes the Change Cycle many steps further because if you recognize a particular event in hexagram or active line text then you have synchronization and a chronological key. Consider your recognition of the parallel between hexagram text and events as synchronicity, and that recognition becomes the key to identify the less visible events shown by the other active lines in your change cycle. Events and your change cycle occur through time as if a mirror. Your recognition becomes the path to compare secondary active line counsel with external events. The Heaven to Earth, I Ching hexagram layout facilitates this review. As noted, I believe the Change Cycle and Heaven to Earth, I Ching principles lend themselves readily to the application of Chaos Theory to the human condition. The Change Cycle molds a personalized change cycle showing how events unfold in the short term. Making timely adjustments by decisions and actions at opportune moments helps ensure a fit outcome. Personal responsibility follows good counsel and avoids dangerous circumstances. This is the application of Heaven to Earth, I Ching principles. The Change Cycle offers a template for worldly events. It sets the pattern for your question and its events to unfold. It can also be your tool to set a new course. Active and inactive lines in your change cycle link together visible and invisible events to indicate direction. Examine your readings for the depth Heaven to Earth, I Ching can bring to your quest.
